Online Health Information
The internet is a great source of information about healthcare issues, but the data you get back from search engines is unfiltered, and it can be hard to identify which sites are reliable and properly resourced.

The following are websites that we recommend as providing reliable, well-researched health information; however, we would advise you not to rely only on your own internet research, and to always discuss your health concerns with your GP.
-
www.hse.ie/health/az/ - HSE Health A-Z page where you can browse by letter of the alphabet or name of the condition.
-
www.undertheweather.ie - excellent HSE website providing clear advice on how to manage minor illnesses such as coughs, colds, sore throat, flu, gastroenteritis, etc.
-
www.patient.co.uk - excellent, user-friendly site that provides evidence-based patient information on virtually all common diseases/symptoms/treatments (UK NHS website).
-
www.immunisation.ie - excellent HSE site giving all the information you need about childhood and adult vaccinations.
-
www.medicines.ie - this is a site for doctors so the language can be a bit technical in places, but if you enter the name of a medication and click on the "SPC" button, you will get a complete list of information about the drug, including interactions with other medications, side effects, whether it's safe to use in pregnancy, etc. (This is basically the same as the information sheet that comes in the box with your tablets).
-
www.hse.ie - provides information on local services, HSE publications, medical cards, etc, but it can be hard to find exactly what you're looking for.
-
CervicalCheck - check when your next cervical check is due.
-
Ballymun Youth Action Project (BYAP) - a community response to drug and alcohol misuse.
-
Assessment of Need/Disability Assessment - if your child has a disability or you think they may have a disability you can apply for an Assessment of Need. A young person aged 16 or 17 years can apply for their own Assessment of Need.
-
Ait Linn - for adults affected by their own drinking or a family member's drinking.
-
Ballymun Child and Family Resource Centre - The aim of the Ballymun Family Resource Centre programme is to combat disadvantage and improve the functioning of the family unit, to encourage community participation and promote social inclusion.
-
Young Ballymun - service focused on improving wellbeing and learning outcomes for children. Their services develop capacity of parents and practitioners across children’s, family and community environments and the relevant children’s services in the health, early years, primary education, community and other sectors.
-
Drop-in Psychology Clinic Ballymun - This clinic is for adults and parents who have concerns about their child.
